The New York Giants have acquired star tight end Darren Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders in a blockbuster trade, according to multiple reports. The deal is reportedly set to be finalized on Tuesday.
Waller, who was the highest-paid tight end in the NFL after signing a three-year, $51 million contract extension with the Raiders last September, is expected to reunite with former Raiders quarterback Daniel Jones in New York. The Giants are reportedly sending multiple draft picks to Las Vegas in exchange for Waller, including a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The trade marks a major move for both the Giants and Raiders. Waller, a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time Second-Team All-Pro, gives the Giants a much-needed weapon in the passing game, while the Raiders receive a significant return in draft capital that could help them rebuild their roster.
