Darren Waller Retires from the NFL

Giants Tight End Calls It a Career

Cap Savings for New York

New York Giants tight end Darren Waller has announced his retirement from the NFL after eight seasons. The 29-year-old made the announcement on Thursday, June 9, 2024.

Waller's retirement will free up $116 million in cap space for the Giants while eating $25 million in dead money. The veteran tight end played a key role in the Giants' offense, catching 56 passes for 710 yards and two touchdowns in 2023.

Waller's decision to retire comes after a successful NFL career. He was a Pro Bowler in 2020 and was named to the All-Pro Second Team in 2021. He also helped the Giants reach the playoffs in 2022.

The Giants are expected to sign a replacement tight end in free agency or the draft. They have been linked to several players, including former Pro Bowler Eric Ebron.
